The Kornati islands as we know them today surely wouldn't look like this if it hadn't been for the hand of a man. The trace of a man, his engagement and activities he has done to live and to survive in this place are the base on which the program Real KORNATI started on. Our guests have the opportunity to live the life of a Kurnatar, with its domicile inhabitants, learn about work in agriculture, livestock farming and ships.
The participants of the program are free to use their free time for recreation, sports or sightseeing. A walk, hiking or a sightseeing tour by a tour guide as well as swimming, diving or just reading a book in meditative silence - it is only a matter of personal choice.
The activities depend only on weather conditions, season, time of the year. For possible rainy days we have prepared educational programs which include lessons and projections on history of the Kornati islands.
Everyday life in Kornati is a special experience. Gardening, taking care of olive trees, sheep trimming, fishing to provide for everyday food, collecting rare fruits of nature, preparing food in a way our ancestors used to prepare it... are just some of countless “everyday skills” which a man in Kornati needs to have in order to survive.
The following photo gallery show parts of everyday life in our household...
With everyday activities and work done by our guests and together with our hosts, you also have, at your disposal, a whole spectrum of sport and recreational activities which you can do while staying in Real KORNATI program. Depending on weather conditions, season, wishes and affinities of the guests in their free time it is possible to choose the following:
Our body can not do without food. But the enjoyment of food and food preparation must not only be automated impulse should be to find a deeper meaning. In RealKornati program participants can "firsthand" to learn about traditional native food preparation, food storage, preparation of bread in a wood-fired oven and the like.
It is important to emphasize that the whole land and life philosophy of the host is based on principals of renewable energy sources and preservation of natural and cultural heritage. It is also based on the spiritual element of the experience the guests will take with them after they had spent time in Real KORNATI program.
Therefore the water which is used in the household is the rainwater collected in special tanks, the electrical energy is gained through sun collectors and water heating is also performed with the help of sun energy. It is necessary to make our guests aware of the importance of saving all of these resources as well as multi functioning of water use - water recycling ( for example for clothes washing and then using that water for toilette rinsing) and usage of sea water where possible. It is also important to take care of the lodgement and garbage transport and all of the organic waste is used for composting in agriculture.
